Reality exists only in our imagination, we make it ourselves. In this sense, any construction of reality is also a fiction. The difficulty is that the actions that we are taking in our manufactured reality have a direct impact in the real world on the other. This can lead to inconsistencies, unexpected contingencies and conflicts.
